Matthew A. Michelangelo's Writing Statement.

"Everybody's Boy" is a three-piece collection. This collection moves through three distinct writing eras. "Everybody's Boy" is Greek- inspired, drawing from plays like "Medea ," "Lysistrata," and hints of "Romeo & Juliet" (I can't help myself; I'm a loverboy). It transitions to "Of Ink & Ivy" is is gothic in nature, inspired by "Hamlet," which is not gothic, I know. I've tried to adapt it to something more like "Faust Pt. One" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and "The Cenci" by Percy Bysshe. Lastly, "Allegany Crawfish" is a blend of American folk and contemporary writing.

 “Pretty.” is a three-piece collection discussing my experiences growing up as a young gay boy. I always try to avoid explicit content in these types of poems; however, sometimes you need to say things for what they are. For those who need it, the CW: SA, Grooming, and Domestic Violence. Reader discretion is advised, but not really needed in my opinion.
